Started a “here’s what I did in the last 10 years” sorta thing but with main exceptions, almost everything that came to mind initially was from the previous decade - ha. So typically hilariously late, here’s my 2000-2010 nutshell:

I had my first non-teaching-music office job - and so, my first health insurance!, regular payroll check, etc. -  which was awesome. I made more friends at/during that job than I had since high school, which was even more awesome. My mom died (as did a grandmother, various uncles & extended family) which at the least, brought us siblings a little closer together. I finished an album (which took four years), we released it w/ our friend Cory, things went incredibly well (admittedly by my low-bar measure). I turned 40. I was fired from that job (essentially for doing band stuff in lieu of work. Old habits..) but then I lived on being a musician for a few years, which had always been the goal. At the same, I also took a break from band/music in a way, from feeling the need to get right to making the next recording or whatever, for the first time since about 1980 (so for ex., I also bought my first piece of furniture (used), moved out of the ‘band house’ etc., all in my ‘40s, late by even my own perpetual musicianly dormroom standards)).

I married mind-bendingly, shockingly well and had, by the end of ’09, our first of three youngsters and so had begun the next phase as at-home parent, which has been a confounding hoot.
