Park Ave. split 7"
Produced by Pedal Boy & the Wrens
Released 1997, Saddle Creek Records
This was a split 7” we put out with Park Ave. They were friends from Omaha, Nebraska and chock-full of indie-stars-to-be (Clark from the Faint, a young Mr. Bright Eyes and Jamie & Neely from Tilly & the Wall).
Back in the mid-‘90s when we toured the earth as it cooled, the one consistent bright spot was playing Omaha. It was a true scene insomuch as everyone there played in everyone else’s band, everyone was super cool, super welcoming and inclusive and maybe most importantly, hadn’t been labeled a scene yet.
Frankly, if it weren’t for them, we might not have continued as a band.
So Omaha friends and indeities, we salute you.
But Christ almighty, look at our photo – it’s like a daguerreotype from the Civil War. You expect to see Ken Burns pan his camera slowly over us while Shelby Foote narrates one of our letters home to a sweetheart…
“Dearest Martha…I write you from the most dire devastation in God’s gray Virginia that will here-hence-by be known as the First Battle of Bull Run. Assuming there’s another, of course…”
