It was five years ago yesterday....

Yesterday got the mastered&sequenced version of the album back from the mastering guru (haven't gotten to listen to it yet partially because I'm sick of & hate
it but also because the at-home dad's child-bosses do not honor a traditional workday).

Sad-lariously enough, only just realized that it was also exactly 5 years ago yesterday, that recording officially started .
Holy hell. Wasting life in half-decade increments.
Since 1989.

Report to Shareholders as of July 1st, 2015

Yeah, Yeah...

Realizing that it's the killer-combo of being not only unimportant in the real goings-on of the world but also, in the ever-going back&forth of "it's almost done, this part is done" etc., both hard to keep up track of and in those details especially, really pretty boring...

but in my dumb mission to post updates on some tiny portion of the everyday work on the record (and believe me, although arguably it shouldn't be, it really is every damned day), Sunday morning I finished & sent off the final-of-many versions of the last song to mastering. Which means that...[READ ON]

Another Year-End Wrap-up

Posted a very belated 2010-in-review last month here which mostly covered the start of (finally) recording. As promised, here’s a slightly less-belated overview of what we got done in 2011. And it’s shorter...[READ ON]

Year-End Wrap-up

2010, that is…

Yeah, 2010…actually not a typo. For years we’ve posted a year-end wrap-up of what we’d been up to the previous twelve months (you can pour over a few of those here). They’ve tended to be drawn-out semi-comedic affairs that were long on “we bought a computer” sort of news and short of any announcement of real recording (not counting a band-ful of false starts, laughably optimistically documented here or here, both from four years ago now, for ex.)...

Q409 Annual Report to Shareholders – pt.3

B-B-B-B…But so where does that leave us?

So although we haven’t started new recording yet (I know, I know, believe me), in a very real way, we’ve never been more ahead or more prepared. Or had more plans or ideas. Weird, I know, but sometimes such are one’s middle years....

The Me(adowlands) Decade

Again, we don't have a press page and have always been iffy about putting up a whole page of flattering press (also too lazy to go ahead and write that press ourselves). But we were so knocked out that some people had put the Meadowlands on their lists of favorite albums of the decade that that we went ahead and broke our own little convention here and then again here when someone pointed out that we'd hilariously missed Pitchfork...

Q409 Annual Report to Shareholders – pt.2

[approaches dais, clears throat]

"Thank you, shareholders and thank you to our parent company, Berkshire Hathaway. During this last fiscal year…well, you’ve probably read in the trade & industry journals that our cutting-edge R&D team is well under way with new product development and recording and…well, this is Wrens & Co. Inc. LLC and we will mic no drum before its time. So yeah, we both aren’t and we are..."

Hey, sorry that took so long. Did we miss anything?

Howdy,

Hope your holidays were good. Heck, it’s been so long since we reached out from our hiding cave deep inside Mt. Winner (or even appeared in public, released new muzak, took a band photo...), we hope your ’90s were good.
(Is this viewable on your Mosaic browser? Is there still a spoken-word tent on the Lollapalooza tour this year? We tried calling your Iridium phone but got your machine.)

Timing being all, we patiently waited, wanting to synch our reentry to active indie rock with a worldwide economy primed to the absolute peak of its consumer-spending power.
(I’m about one phone bill away from standing on our corner with a cup in one hand and mp3’s in the other).

In spite of that, I think it’s looking to be a good year for us...

Now, As For What’s Pending:

After all the catch-up news & email of the week before last, we’ll keep this as short as can be (which is to say, merely mind-bendingly long instead of actually divided into Testaments). More details to follow as each of these actually come to pass. In no particular order…
